Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead Older Persons Services across GP surgeries in the North Denbighshire area. You will provide CPA reviews, ward rounds for inpatients, and input to memory services, coordinating care for complex cases.

The role requires GMC registration, with MRCPsych desirable, and compliance with Mental Health legislation. Welsh language submission accepted; NHS Wales environment with clinical leadership

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Fully registered with the GMC and licence to practise.
• Included on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing CCT.
• Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months.
• Approved under S12 or able within 3 months.
• Desirable: MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent.
• Welsh AC Approval.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and management for cognitive impairment (including Young Onset Dementias) and older adults with functional illnesses.
• Provide medical leadership to the CMHTE and consult with Primary Mental Health Services for the Elderly.
• Care coordinate a limited number of personal cases, providing Care and Treatment Plans.
• Provide reports and consultation services to support commissioning of long-term health care for patients in catchment area.
