Job summary

University of Bristol is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Professor Ashley Toye’s group in the School of Biochemistry. The role is full-time (35 hours per week) on a six-month fixed-term contract funded by Dstl, focusing on recombinant protein design and red blood cell biology.

You will design and analyse protein interactions, with experience in cloning, expression and chromatography. Collaboration and precise record-keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, protein engineering, synthetic biology or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with recombinant DNA methods and bacterial protein expression.
• Ability to design experiments, interpret quantitative results, and work in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Design, produce and characterise recombinant proteins and study their interactions with red blood cells.
• Plan and troubleshoot experiments, analyse quantitative data and maintain accurate records.
• Contribute to project meetings, progress updates and final report.
