Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, seeks a Senior Project Planner to lead end-to-end planning for complex defence programmes from proposal through execution.

You will coordinate with program management, procurement and the customer, ensure cost-schedule integration and manage risks and opportunities within the baseline. A schedule-driven role with DV clearance requirement and a hybrid onsite/remote pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Project Planner or PMO Planning role.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or other planning software.
• Experience in resource-loaded schedules.
• Experience with Earned Value Management and Critical Path management.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to new tools, systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain end-to-end planning and schedule management for proposal to execution.
• Lead proposal planning and artefact development; interface with management and customers.
• Validate cost and schedule integration for program performance.
• Ensure integration between schedules and other program artefacts per LM standards.
• Model and measure risks and opportunities within schedule and cost baselines.
• Resolve schedule conflicts and implement workaround strategies.
• Monitor performance metrics and communicate actions to the program team.
• Maintain IMS status on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Support the Project Business Rhythm.
• Generate Schedule Information for reviews with client and management.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Project Planner to join our Special Projects team at our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role benefits from our 4xFlex working pattern, offering a 4-day working week Monday – Thursday.

As part of the Special Projects team you could be required to work onsite up to 4 days a week.

You’ll play a key role in supporting the end-to-end planning lifecycle — from proposal to execution — helping deliver some of the UK’s most complex and innovative engineering programmes.

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintain the end-to-end lifecycle of planning and schedule management in support of programme capture and execution.
• Lead proposal preparation planning including development of planning artefacts for solicitation response. Interfaces with program management, senior management and the contractual customer as the programs planning integrator.
• Manage the validation of cost and schedule integration for effective program performance management.
• Manage the vertical and horizontal integration between all schedules and other program artefacts compliant with LM's command media.
• Manage the modelling and measuring techniques to integrate risks and opportunities with schedule and cost baseline.
• Manage the resolution of schedule conflicts, develops and implements work-around strategies and tactical alternatives.
• Utilises performance and health metrics to communicate actions to the programme team resulting in improved program performance.
• Maintenance and status updates of the IMS on a weekly & monthly basis.
• Manage the Maintenance of the Performance Measurement Baseline.
• Support to the Project Business Rhythm.
• Manage the generation of Schedule Information for client and management reviews.

Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience

• Experience as a Project Planner, or similar PMO Planning role
• Experience of Primavera P6, or similar Planning software
• Experience of managing Resource loaded Schedules
• Experience of Earned Value Management and Critical Path Management
• A confident individual who will ensure that best planning practice is always adhered to, even in occasional pressurised situations
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to quickly adapt to new tools, systems, and processes
