Job summary

Blue Fox in Aberdeen is seeking a Senior Planner to lead the development of detailed project programmes across energy infrastructure, including renewables, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and HV substations.

You will collaborate with project directors, construction managers and engineers to produce and maintain schedules, monitor progress, and identify critical-path risks, enabling on-time delivery and future career progression in major UK projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Planner or Project Planner in construction/engineering.
• Experience delivering energy infrastructure projects including HV substations, BESS or renewables.
• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Excellent scheduling, critical path analysis and project controls understanding.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage and maintain detailed project programmes from pre-construction through to completion.
• Produce and update construction schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure effective programme delivery.
• Monitor project progress, identify critical path activities and highlight potential delays.
• Undertake programme reviews, progress reporting and schedule risk assessments.
• Support project teams with resource planning, sequencing and construction methodologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve programme efficiency and project performance.
• Provide planning expertise across renewable energy, BESS and HV substation projects.
• Support tender planning, programme development and project controls activities.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Planner to join a leading construction and engineering contractor with an annual turnover of approximately £750 million.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially strong, established business delivering major energy infrastructure projects across the UK, including renewable energy developments, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and high-voltage substations.

Based in Aberdeen, you will play a key role in the planning and successful delivery of technically challenging projects, working closely with project directors, construction managers and engineering teams.

With a strong pipeline of work and continued investment in the energy sector, this position offers excellent long-term career prospects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, manage and maintain detailed project programmes from pre-construction through to completion.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Planner or experienced Project Planner within construction or engineering.
• Previous experience delivering energy infrastructure projects, ideally including HV substations, BESS or renewable energy developments.
• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, critical path analysis and project controls.
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, commercial and project delivery teams.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working for a main contractor or specialist engineering contractor would be advantageous.
