Job Description

Reporting to the Water Project Management Delivery Lead for the UK, the Senior Project Manager will deliver projects primarily with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands, with opportunities to work in the North West of England. There is potential for progression into sectors such as water, environment, rail, or nuclear.

The role requires experience in pre- and post-contract management using NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC forms and procurement in the UK water, environment, rail, or nuclear sectors. The Senior Project Manager will leverage their project experience to drive efficiencies, manage supply chains, and oversee contracts. Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build projects is essential.

Role Responsibilities

General

• Manage NEC3/4 contracts (Options A, C, E) on the client side
• Control budgets and collaborate on payment valuations
• Forecast costs and determine defined costs with QS support
• Maintain productive stakeholder relationships
• Ensure proper project and commercial records management
• Handle contractual communications, notices, and warnings

Pre-Contract Activities

• Conduct scope planning, cost estimates, and feasibility studies
• Prepare and evaluate tenders
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Collaborate early with contractors during design

Post-Contract Activities

• Manage and administer construction contracts
• Monitor expenditures and cash flow
• Lead change order negotiations and claims resolution
• Conduct final accounts and post-project evaluations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a numerical discipline
• Full membership of a chartered body such as APM (MAPM)
• Extensive postgraduate experience in Rail, Nuclear, Water, or Environment sectors
• Experience in line management and recruitment of project managers or assistants
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and risk management
• Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card preferred
• Experience working with main contractors or joint ventures on the client side
• Presence on-site at least 3 days per week
• Proficiency with NEC3/4 contracts (A-C-E)
• Legal right to work in the UK
• Subject to client interview and approval
