Within our consulting business, we harness our unique combination of leading-edge practical expertise and project delivery consultancy to unlock the potential in every project.

The project:

Our client is one of the largest water companies in the UK, responsible for water and wastewater services in England. Their purpose is to deliver their services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner and create sustainable long-term value for all. We currently provide the client with a range of services focused on programme and project management and are always looking for opportunities to deliver more value through the provision of expert and strategic staff. The role involves planning and leading the successful delivery of a programme of works by an ‘area delivery team’ composed of the client’s partners and contractors, ensuring adherence to health and safety strategies, target operating models, and outcomes related to regulation, customer satisfaction, and resilience. The candidate will act as the interface between the delivery team and the business at a senior level, managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the capital programme in line with business strategy.

Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey, they are:

Safety first - Going home safe and well:

You will promote Mace's value of safety first, exhibit visible safety behaviours, share lessons learned, and support the safety and wellbeing of all Mace staff through safety moments and Mace's HSW framework.

You will possess technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to the project portfolio.

You will promote a diverse and inclusive working environment, understanding the importance of team wellbeing.

You will ensure robust quality systems are in place and managed in line with service excellence standards.

You will manage project delivery from inception through design, procurement, construction, and handover, ensuring alignment with project milestones and overall delivery program.

You will support project management activities, including preparing and updating project management plans, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and mitigating risks.

You will drive design development, initiate surveys and site visits, and write works information aligned with the project business case.

You will undertake contract administration responsibilities, with a thorough understanding of NEC3/4 contracts.

You will ensure projects meet quality, time, and budget requirements.

You will write specifications, tender, and contract documents, assess tenders, and manage environmental, health and safety, and statutory compliance.

You will conduct reviews, inspections, audits, and manage contractor performance to ensure client satisfaction.

You will handle third-party negotiations such as planning applications, land access, and power supply.

  • Understanding client requirements and engaging stakeholders effectively.

Integrity - Always do the right thing:

You will manage project budgets, identify risks, and support the development of your business unit for sustainability and growth.

You will aim to make a positive impact for our people, clients, and the planet, holding others accountable to Mace's values.

Create opportunity - For our people to excel:

You will lead and manage design and consultancy teams, ensuring responsibilities are completed effectively.

You will lead project teams and stakeholders to meet KPIs and promote best practices within Mace’s knowledge resources.
