Job Description

The Senior Project Manager plans, steers, and safely manages one or more of Heathrow's capital programmes, to ensure an integrated, sustainable, and effective solution is delivered, including the management of safety, cost, time, quality and performance.

As the Senior Project Manager, you will be team focused with a clear skill and desire to guide and develop your team of Project Managers. You will be experienced at leading multidisciplinary teams on complex and intrusive programmes & projects and can drive continuous improvement and quality through each of your workstreams. Developing and nurturing stakeholder and supply chain relationships will be key to the successful provision of flexible solutions for the wider Heathrow Airport team. Contract management, project reporting and adherence to the Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle will ensure that your programmes deliver the agreed benefits back into the business.

Responsibilities

• Line management of a team of 10-15 Project Managers.
• Overseeing around 30-40 projects in the design stages (from definition of scope based on business need through to Investment Decision at the end of detailed design).
• Diverse projects - from buildings civils, mechanical, electrical and systems to the same across our Rail estate.
• Presenting the projects to formal governance forums on behalf of their PMs.
• Leading the relationship with the supply chain partners designing the project solutions.
• Establishing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring that all user requirements are captured, and approvals are in place to meet schedule dates, as well as understanding regulatory requirements.
• End to end execution planning and management, ensuring clear goals, roles and deliverables are well defined to ensure delivery of the goals and value for money of the expenditure.
• Direct deployment of Safety obligations and initiatives and via everyone involved or touched by the project.

Qualifications

• Substantial Project management experience
• At least 1 formal project management qualification (eg PMQ, Prince)
• Client-side experience
• Communication skills
• Confidence with senior stakeholders
• Proven track record in planning and implementation of complex projects, within a live operational environment, and with multiple stakeholder interfaces
• Experience of commercial and contractual environment

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
