We Build Recruitment is seeking a Senior Project Manager with Civil Engineering experience

Our client, a well-established Civil Engineering company with over 50 years of experience, is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager.

The Senior Project Manager will lead the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure packages on large-scale data centre or battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This key leadership role involves overseeing all aspects of civil construction—from groundworks and structural elements to utilities and enabling works—in technically demanding environments.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Take full ownership of the civils scope throughout the project lifecycle—from pre-construction to handover.
2. Lead and manage site-based civils teams, subcontractors, and external consultants.
3. Oversee planning, sequencing, and execution of works, ensuring alignment with project milestones and critical path.
4. Ensure all works are delivered safely, in accordance with CDM regulations and HSE standards.
5. Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth interfaces and avoid conflicts.
6. Manage budgets, variations, procurement schedules, and contract administration.
7. Drive progress reporting, look-aheads, and issue resolution through structured project controls.
8. Chair regular progress meetings with stakeholders including clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
9. Maintain clear documentation and ensure compliance with specifications, technical standards, and quality assurance processes.
10. Ensure environmental and permitting compliance across all civils activities.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in a civil engineering or construction management role, with at least 3 years in a senior project management capacity.
• Strong background delivering civils packages on data centres, battery storage facilities, power generation, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of groundworks, drainage, concrete structures, access roads, and utility coordination.
