Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Project Manager (PFI Hand Back) to drive end-of-concession hand-back programmes within the Central & Southwest unit on a 24-month FTC. The role steers remedial works, defect rectification, and project delivery to plan, cost and quality targets.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, maintain strong safety performance, and ensure contractual obligations are met while communicating effectively with stakeholders across the programme.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering or surveying.
• Master’s degree is preferred for senior level responsibility.
• Accreditation to a relevant professional body is preferred (IEng, MCIOB, RICS, etc).
• Demonstrable experience delivering projects in a PFI environment.
• CSCS Black Card and NEBOSH Construction certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hand back programmes to ensure time, cost and quality targets are met.
• Lead on health and safety metrics and a culture of behavioural safety.
• Ensure CDM Regulations compliance across projects.
• Manage contractual obligations with varying requirements per project.
• Communicate expectations clearly to team members and stakeholders.
• Build a high-performing, integrated delivery team.

Job description

Equans is looking for a Senior Project Manager (PFI Hand Back) to join our team on the Central & Southwest business unit on a 24 month fixed term contract basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance and benefits package.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will develop, track, and evaluate programmes to help achieve goals and objectives of the Central & Southwest business unit with regards to Centre of Best Practice PFI Handback. The role will require oversight of a Programme of Projects/Remedial Works/Defect Rectification Works relating to the Handback of PFI assets when they come to the end of the concession period.

What will you deliver?

• Overseeing the overall management and performance of identified hand back programmes of work (either from internal surveys or external surveys) including feasibility reports, planning, design, construction, programme and commercial controls / monitoring, ensuring each project is delivered to time, budget and specification
• Ensuring all Health and Safety metrics are achieved and to lead on a culture of behavioural safety across the delivery unit
• Adherence with legislation CDM Regulations 2015 and Building Safety Act 2022
• Adherence with contractual obligations applicable to each project, appreciating the obligations will differ from project to project
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
• Building and sustaining an integrated, collaborative and high performance team that anticipates and responds to the needs of the organisation and key stakeholders

Who are you?

• A Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Surveying, , or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred
• Accreditation to relevant professional institute is preferred (IEng, MCIOB, RICS, etc)
• Demonstrable experience in project management, with a proven track record of successful project delivery in the Construction industry in complex environments within a PFI environment
• CSCS Black Card
• NEBOSH General (construction)

This role includes a DBS Enhanced with Barred Lists check therefore ability to pass is essential.
