Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding specialist contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager (Electrical) to lead the electrical delivery of a major data centre development in Bristol.
Our client has established an exceptional reputation for delivering technically complex projects across the Data Centre, Defence and Energy sectors. With over 40 years of specialist expertise, they continue to deliver high-profile developments for some of the industry's most prestigious clients.
This opportunity will see you joining the second phase of a major data centre refurbishment and expansion project, increasing the facility's existing IT capacity by an additional 2.4MW.
The development involves the installation and integration of significant new mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including chillers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems and CRAH units.
For an experienced electrical project leader, this represents an outstanding opportunity to take ownership of technically demanding works within a live, mission-critical environment.
As Senior Project Manager (Electrical), you'll take a leading role in the successful delivery of complex electrical and MEP packages, overseeing works from pre-construction and design development through installation, testing, commissioning, energisation and final handover.
Working closely with the Project Director, Lead Electrical Engineer, commercial teams and specialist subcontractors, you'll provide senior leadership across the electrical delivery function, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, budget and technical requirements.
You'll take ownership of project planning, procurement strategies, design coordination and construction sequencing, while maintaining oversight of critical electrical systems and their integration into the wider development.
A particularly important aspect of this appointment will be managing the complexities associated with electrical infrastructure, resilient power systems, HV interfaces and commissioning activities, ensuring all installations meet the exacting standards required within mission-critical environments.
You'll also play a key role in developing project teams, managing specialist contractors and maintaining strong relationships with clients and senior project stakeholders.
This is a senior appointment offering genuine responsibility, technical influence and the opportunity to lead critical electrical works on a flagship data centre development.
You’ll be an established Senior Project Manager, Electrical Project Manager or MEP Project Manager with a proven track record delivering technically complex electrical installations within major construction projects.
Ideally, you'll have experience within the data centre sector, although candidates from defence, energy, critical infrastructure or similarly demanding environments will also be considered.
You’ll possess strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, resilient power infrastructure and the processes involved in installation, testing, commissioning and energisation.
You’ll also be commercially astute, an excellent communicator and a confident leader who can manage multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
You’ll ideally hold an HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, together with relevant industry qualifications including the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, SMSTS and appropriate electrical safety training.
HV Authorised Person training or demonstrable equivalent competence is particularly important for this appointment.
Professional membership of the IET, CIBSE or a similar recognised body would also be advantageous.
