Job summary

Rise10 Recruitment is partnering with an established engineering business to recruit a Senior Project Manager for food processing and industrial automation in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. You will lead major engineering projects from concept through commissioning, with frequent UK and international travel.

The role requires strong commercial awareness, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver bespoke solutions across global sites.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Significant PM experience on capital equipment, industrial automation or related engineering environments.
• Proven track record delivering complex engineering projects from concept to on-site commissioning.
• Strong commercial awareness with budgets and customer relationships.
• Experience specifying mechanical equipment (conveying systems, motors, pneumatics, structures).
• Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks) and project planning tools (MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from contract award through installation, commissioning and sign-off.
• Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, milestones and risks.
• Primary customer contact throughout each project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Installation teams to deliver solutions.
• Present technical concepts and project updates to customers and stakeholders.
• Manage project profitability and identify opportunities for additional revenue.
• Coordinate manufacturing schedules and installation activities to meet deadlines.
• Support on-site installation and commissioning when required.
• Ensure documentation and reporting are maintained throughout the lifecycle.
• Drive continuous improvement across project delivery, design and manufacturing processes.

Senior Project Manager- Food Processing & Industrial Automation

St Ives, Cambridgeshire (with frequent UK & international travel to client sites)

£50,000 - £70,000

Permanent | Full-Time

Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that designs and delivers bespoke food production and processing solutions for customers across the globe. With projects spanning multiple food sectors and installations in over 60 countries, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex, high-value engineering projects from concept through to commissioning.

The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you'll take ownership of major engineering projects throughout their full lifecycle, including:

• Leading projects from contract award through to installation, commissioning and final customer sign-off.
• Developing and managing detailed project plans, budgets, milestones and risk registers.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for customers throughout each project.
• Working closely with Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Installation teams to deliver bespoke engineering solutions.
• Presenting technical concepts, layouts and project updates to customers and key stakeholders.
• Managing project profitability while identifying opportunities for additional revenue.
• Coordinating manufacturing schedules and installation activities to meet project deadlines.
• Supporting on-site installation and commissioning activities when required.
• Ensuring all documentation, technical records and project reporting are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Driving continuous improvement across project delivery, product design and manufacturing processes.

Essential

• Degree or HND qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Significant Project Management experience within capital equipment, industrial automation, food processing machinery or a similar engineering environment.
• Proven success delivering complex, high-value engineering projects from concept through to on-site commissioning.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and customer relationships.
• Experience specifying mechanical equipment such as conveying systems, motors, pneumatics and fabricated structures.
• Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and project planning software such as MS Project.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Desirable

• Experience within the food processing or food manufacturing sector.
• Knowledge of hygiene design principles and food industry standards.
• Experience with electrical and pneumatic control systems.
• Sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing knowledge.
• Formal Project Management qualification (Prince2, PMP or equivalent).
