Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major £200m EHV cable installation project in Norwich. You will work closely with the Project Director to drive delivery, manage a multidisciplinary team and ensure successful completion on time and within budget.

The role requires a proven track record on large infrastructure projects, strong commercial awareness, and a solid understanding of CDM regulations and risk management. National Grid experience is a plus.

  • Significant experience operating as a Senior Project Manager or equivalent on major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record delivering EHV cable, transmission, utilities or large-scale civil engineering projects.
  • Background with a Tier 1 contractor in civil engineering, energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary delivery teams and managing project budgets, forecasts and programme performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a major £200m EHV cable installation project from inception through to completion.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary delivery team and liaise with the Project Director to ensure objectives are met.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasts, change control and programme performance to keep the project on track.
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with CDM Regulations and risk management frameworks.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major £200m Extra High Voltage (EHV) cable installation project in Norwich. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role on a nationally significant energy infrastructure scheme that will support the UK's future power network and energy transition.

Working closely with the Project Director, you will lead a multidisciplinary delivery team and be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the project through ECI, construction and through to completion.

About you

We are looking for a proven project leader with the capability to manage large-scale, complex infrastructure projects and inspire high-performing teams.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience operating as a Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or equivalent leadership role on major infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience delivering EHV cable, transmission, utilities, power, energy or large-scale civil engineering projects.
  • A strong background working for a Tier 1 contractor within the civil engineering, energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary delivery teams on a similar scale.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, forecasting, change control and programme performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • A detailed understanding of construction management, project controls and risk management.
  • Sound knowledge of CDM Regulations and the implementation of safe systems of work.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to perform effectively within a fast-paced and challenging project environment.

Ideally you will also possess:

  • Experience delivering National Grid, transmission, cable installation or major energy infrastructure projects.
  • Relevant engineering, construction or project management qualifications.
  • A track record of successfully delivering large-scale civil engineering or utility projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience managing joint ventures, complex stakeholder interfaces and large subcontractor work packages.
