Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking a Project Manager to deliver a National Grid substation project. You will lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring safety, schedule and commercial performance while building strong relationships with National Grid and key stakeholders.

Ideally, you will have a degree in Engineering or Construction Management, extensive project leadership on major infrastructure projects, and NEC3/NEC4

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Significant Project Manager or senior leadership experience on major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
• Experience delivering safety, programme delivery, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent NEC3/NEC4 contract management knowledge.
• SMSTS and CSCS/EUSR management card preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence clients and senior teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams through all stages of project lifecycle from planning to handover.
• Build strong relationships with National Grid and key stakeholders.
• Deliver projects safely, on programme and with strong commercial performance.
• Manage safety, programme delivery, and commercial outcomes across complex projects.

As our portfolio of major National Grid transmission and substation projects continues to grow, we’re looking for a Project Manager to deliver a National Grid substation project.

As the driving force behind project success, you’ll lead multidisciplinary teams through every stage of the project lifecycle, from planning and procurement through construction, commissioning and final handover. You’ll build strong relationships with National Grid and key stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and with strong commercial performance.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Significant Project Manager or senior leadership experience on major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
• Strong experience managing safety, programme delivery, commercial performance and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent NEC3/NEC4 contract management knowledge.
• SMSTS and an appropriate CSCS/EUSR management card.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence clients, partners and senior project teams.

Highly Desirable Experience Includes

• Delivery of high-voltage transmission or substation projects.
• National Grid project experience.
• Professional qualifications such as APM PMQ/PPQ, ChPP, CEng, MICE or MCIOB.
• Experience with commissioning, energisation readiness and outage-led programmes.
• Managing major civil, electrical EPC or principal contractor interfaces.
