Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, seeks an experienced Project Manager to deliver a National Grid substation project. You will lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, procurement, construction and handover, focusing on safety, programme delivery and commercial success.

You will build strong relationships with National Grid and key stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, with robust risk management and interfaces managed end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Significant PM/senior leadership experience on major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
• Strong experience in safety, programme delivery, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent NEC3/NEC4 contract management knowledge.
• SMSTS and CSCS/EUSR management card.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams through all project lifecycle stages.
• Plan, procure, construct, commission and hand over projects.

Through our specialist energy business, VolkerEnergy, we’re playing a key role in strengthening the nation's electricity transmission network. As our portfolio of major National Grid transmission and substation projects continues to grow, we’re looking for a Project Manager to deliver a National Grid substation project.

As the driving force behind project success, you’ll lead multidisciplinary teams through every stage of the project lifecycle, from planning and procurement through construction, commissioning and final handover. You’ll build strong relationships with National Grid and key stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and with strong commercial performance.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Significant Project Manager or senior leadership experience on major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
• Strong experience managing safety, programme delivery, commercial performance and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent NEC3/NEC4 contract management knowledge.
• SMSTS and an appropriate CSCS/EUSR management card.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence clients, partners and senior project teams.

Highly Desirable Experience Includes

• Delivery of high-voltage transmission or substation projects.
• National Grid project experience.
• Professional qualifications such as APM PMQ/PPQ, ChPP, CEng, MICE or MCIOB.
• Experience with commissioning, energisation readiness and outage-led programmes.
• Managing major civil, electrical EPC or principal contractor interfaces.
