Job summary

Hitachi Solutions Europe Limited is growing its Delivery team and seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead complex, multi-workstream programmes with up to 25 consultants and a focus on delivering scope, schedule, quality and budget.

You will partner with client teams, manage risks, governance and change, and mentor other project managers while upholding Hitachi delivery standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects or multi-workstream programmes, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, quality and budget.
• Direct teams of up to 25 consultants, providing support to maintain performance.
• Act as primary escalation point for risks, issues, conflicts and delivery decisions.
• Capture risks, issues, decisions and actions with ownership and target dates.
• Elevate significant decisions to Project Director/Steering Group as needed.
• Create and maintain large project plans aligned with Hitachi delivery practices.
• Ensure projects are resourced through all lifecycle phases.
• Manage budgets with forecasting and client reporting; address variances.
• Support debt collection and recovery as required by Finance.
• Prepare and present change requests to govern scope and cost.
• Oversee estimation for plans and change requests; own delivery effort forecasts.
• Ensure governance and stage-gate processes with written client approvals.
• Be client-facing, managing operational communications and relationships.
• Provide strategic reporting to senior stakeholders with clarity and transparency.
• Produce documentation: work orders, contracts, presentations.
• Mentor and develop Project Managers.
• Comply with Hitachi Solutions Europe Ltd Quality Management Policy.

Job Description

We are growing our Delivery team and looking for Senior Project Manager to join us on our exciting journey and be part of the Hitachi Solutions family.

• Lead complex projects or multi-workstream programmes, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
• Direct teams of up to 25 consultants, providing support and intervention where necessary to maintain performance and resolve delivery challenges.
• Act as the primary escalation and management point for risks, issues, conflicts, and delivery decisions. Take appropriate action to resolve the majority of matters independently before escalating to Delivery Leadership.
• Ensure all identified risks, issues, decisions, and actions are accurately captured, with the appropriate level of detail, including ownership, priority, and target date.
• Identify and elevate significant decisions, actions, issues, and risks to the Project Director and/or Steering Group appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Create and maintain large, complex project plans, ensuring they are realistic, robust, and aligned with Hitachi delivery best practices.
• Ensure projects are appropriately resourced throughout all phases of the project lifecycle and manage associated resourcing requirements.
• Manage large project budgets, including forecasting and client reporting. Proactively resolve budget challenges, financial variances, and commercial issues wherever possible before escalation.
• Maintain awareness of the financial status of client accounts and support Finance with debt collection and recovery activities where required.
• Prepare and present complex change requests to effectively govern changes to scope, cost, and timelines.
• Oversee the estimation process for project plans and change requests, taking ownership of delivery effort estimates and forecasts.
• Ensure appropriate governance and stage-gate processes are followed, with deliverables, milestones, and project phases formally accepted and written client approval obtained before proceeding.
• Act as a key point of contact for the client project team, managing operational communications and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Provide strategic communication and reporting to senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity, transparency, and alignment.
• Produce high-quality, professional documentation, including work orders, contracts, client presentations, and other key project documentation.
• Mentor and develop Project Managers within their span of control.
• Execute assigned responsibilities in accordance with Hitachi Solutions Europe Ltd's Quality Management Policy.

Qualifications

• Candidates should exhibit strong leadership qualities and a results-oriented mindset, and be resilient, structured, and disciplined, with strong attention to detail in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Candidates should have demonstrable experience managing large-scale, multidisciplinary implementations, working across complex projects or multi-workstream programmes with large teams. Dynamics 365 implementation experience is highly desirable.
• Proven experience leveraging and implementing AI-driven tools and solutions to enhance project delivery, streamline processes, and support data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Highly experienced in working with defined project methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, and established governance models, with the ability to articulate their benefits and structure to both internal teams and clients. Experience delivering projects using Government methodologies would be highly beneficial.
• Experienced in working with different commercial models, including Time & Materials (T&M) and Fixed Price, with the ability to articulate and mitigate associated commercial risks while ensuring value for money for clients.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with proven success working with senior stakeholders and leading cross-border projects across diverse cultures, markets, and regulatory environments.
• Demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen, with strong budget and risk management skills.
