Job summary

Hitachi Solutions Europe Limited is seeking a senior Project Director to drive strategic engagement with client executives across large-scale programmes. You will oversee risk, quality of work orders and change requests, and approve deliverables while guiding governance and stakeholder communications.

The role requires leading multi-disciplinary teams in Agile and Waterfall environments, maintaining senior relationships, and driving delivery improvements across complex client engagements.

Responsibilities

• Strategic engagement on projects of any scale with client executive stakeholders.
• Identify strategic risks to projects and oversee their mitigation.
• Oversee and ensure the quality of all work orders and change requests, suggesting enhancements where needed to serve as a firm project foundation.
• Approve project deliverables including forecasts and timesheets; challenge content when consistency or accuracy is compromised.
• Represent the Hitachi Solutions Delivery Team in strategic prospect meetings covering governance, risk, and related topics.
• Articulate report content to client executives, proactively communicating key messages and implications.
• Assess and validate complex project plans based on Hitachi's Consensus methodology and explain benefits to internal and client teams.
• Advise senior client staff on best practices, risk mitigation, and strategic challenges in client C-level relationships.
• Lead conflict resolution and escalate to the Hitachi Executive team when required.
• Own and drive internal Hitachi processes (e.g., Work Order and Change Request approvals) and lead delivery-improvement initiatives.
• Manage large, diverse teams and assume additional Hitachi business leadership accountabilities.
• Deliver and lead large-scale programmes (business applications, digital, cloud, ERP, data transformation) in complex environments using Agile and Waterfall.
• Provide guidance to senior personnel and collaborate with Senior Management and HR as appropriate.
• Demonstrate extensive experience in managing large-scale programmes across industries and maintaining relationships with senior executives in Hitachi and client organisations.

Job description

Key Responsibilities :

• Responsible for the strategic engagement on projects of any scale with client executive stakeholders.
• Responsible for identifying strategic risks to projects and overseeing their mitigation.
• Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the appropriate quality of all work orders and change requests relating to their projects, as well as suggesting enhancements where these fall short of enabling the document to operate as a firm foundation for the project.
• Responsible for the approval of project deliverables, including forecasts, timesheet management, PSRs, etc., and is able to challenge the content of these in instances where consistency, accuracy, and completeness are compromised.
• Represents the Hitachi Solutions Delivery Team in strategic prospect meetings, where discussions cover governance best practice, strategic and business risk, amongst other topics.
• Responsible for articulating the content of reports to client executives, proactively identifying and communicating key messages and implications.
• Responsible for assessing and validating complex project plans based on Hitachi's Consensus methodology, including the necessary deliverables. Able to articulate the benefits and structure of Consensus to both internal and client teams, champion best practice governance, and identify candidate areas for improvement or development of Consensus.
• Acts as a key player in client C-level relationships, able to inform and advise senior client staff on best practice, risk mitigation, and strategic challenges.
• Responsible for leading the resolution of conflict situations, while recognising when it is necessary to call on the support of the Hitachi Executive team.
• Project Directors are recognised for their ability to own other internal Hitachi processes (Work Order approval, Change Request approval, etc.) when necessary and when requested by the Head of Delivery, and are expected to lead and direct initiatives and improvements within the delivery team.
• Effectively manages large and diverse teams, while carrying additional Hitachi business leadership accountabilities.
• Extensive experience delivering and leading large-scale, multi-million-pound business applications, digital, cloud, ERP, and data transformation programmes within complex organisational environments.
• Experience delivering programmes using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, ideally in both the public and private sectors.
• Provides support and guidance to senior personnel, engaging Senior Management and HR where appropriate.
• Significant, demonstrable experience in managing large-scale business applications programmes and projects across a range of industries.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with senior executives within both Hitachi and client organisations.
• High levels of business acumen, and commercial astuteness.
