We are looking for talented, enthusiastic Senior Project Manager with expertise in managing development and support contracts and troubleshooting issues, to join us at Crewe Toll, Edinburgh as part of the Customer Service Support Solutions (CS3) PMRO team.
This role sits within the Customer Service Support Solutions (CS3) Line of Business (LoB), which falls within the wider Leonardo Electronics UK Business Unit. The CS3 LoB provides product and service support to the wide-ranging Leonardo Customer base.
A Senior Project Manager is required to provide project management and leadership to support the successful delivery of multiple development and support projects associated with the Gripen Radar Test Equipment product ranges. These currently cover projects in support of MRO’s in Sweden and Brazil. International travel will be required from time to time.
The Senior Project Manager will be required to work extended hours if necessary to meet project timescales.
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for applying effective management; relationship and problem solving skills to assist the Programme Manager deliver against the multiple project activities, which are critical to maintaining and improving the programme performance.
This role will report to the Gripen Support Programme Manager reporting into the PMRO Head of Programmes in the SSS Sector of CS3.
What you will do:
- Build and manage relationships with internal/external stakeholders to ensure all bids are prepared, managed and reviewed appropriately and in line with Leonardo policies and standard.
- Work with Contract Managers to negotiate contract changes and contribute to the resolution of contractual and legal disputes.
- May review options provided from the procurement supply chain to ensure project delivery and costs are consistent with contract.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with all functions across the IPT in order to influence project activities and execute deliverables in line with the agreed timeframe and budget.
- Translate and apply the appropriate strategy for managing contingency plans in order to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities within the project.
- Lead the project team effectively. Through planning, allocation and reporting of work in order to ensure successful delivery of the project/plan.
- Communicate project progress to the LoB Management team Board in order to provide input to strategic direction for long-term plans.
- Communicate project progress to the customers and attend Quarterly Progress Meetings as necessary.
- Ensure appropriate adherence to LCM.
- Ownership for delivery and performance of the project.
- Work on-site in Edinburgh for at least 3 days per week.
What we need from you
- Extensive experience in delivering projects and contracts and supporting a Programme Manager deliver more complex projects and contracts.
- Pro-active with a "can do" attitude, striving for continuous improvement, effectiveness and efficiency and with a focus on achieving high performance against objectives
- Sound understanding of Project Reporting and financial controls
- Good computer literacy, including all Microsoft Office applications (including MS Project) and SAP functions related to Project execution, cost control and planning.
- Detailed knowledge of Life Cycle Management, Risk Management and Project Execution tools and techniques
- Experience of working closely with Export Customers as the main Point of Contact.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workload and to work autonomously
- Flexible and adaptable to change and adversity
- Excellent problem solving skills and initiative with the ability to think laterally
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and communicate with multiple engineering and non-engineering functions, spanning multiple locations.
- Degree level or higher qualification.
