Job summary

Baker Hughes in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex customer projects from planning through delivery, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget performance.

You will manage cross‑functional teams, coordinate with internal departments, and support tendering with estimations, while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Engineering-based Bachelor of Science Degree or HND.
  • Project Management Qualification.
  • Experience in an engineering environment.
  • Experience with controls products; BRUSH/Baker Hughes tools advantageous.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Experience dealing with customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
  • Customer-focused, problem solver, team player.

Responsibilities

  • Manage allocated customer key accounts and projects to finish on schedule and within cost.
  • Oversee accounts from planning to contract delivery and close‑out review.
  • Coordinate communications between customer and the Company from order to warranty.
  • Coordinate internal resources for staffing and resourcing.
  • Monitor contractual documentation to the Customer.
  • Track actual and estimated expenditures; identify remedial actions.
  • Review project performance; escalate significant issues to management.
  • Report milestone completions to ensure on‑time invoicing.
  • Negotiate and record customer variations; notify internal teams.
  • Ensure final reports and workbooks are completed on time and in‑full.
  • Minimise liabilities and maximise margins.
  • Support proposal stage with Gantt charts and tender estimations.

You will be responsible for executing projects from BRUSH UK. You will support the wide variety of projects. These will involve working on, controls made in works projects, with involvement for field service for customers around the world.

This position is responsible for the planning, management, and communication of activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. You will lead higher complexity and value projects as well as providing support and coaching for more junior members of the team.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing allocated Customer key accounts and/or other allocated Projects ensuring they are completed on schedule and within cost.
  • Overseeing designated accounts from project planning stage until the completion of all contractual delivery obligations, including project close‑out review.
  • Coordinating all communications between the customer and the Company in a timely manner, from receipt of order through to the end of the contract or warranty period if applicable.
  • Coordinating activity within internal departments for resourcing.
  • Monitoring and issuing of all contractual documentation to the Customer.
  • Monitoring of both actual and estimated project expenditure and where variances exist, ensuring investigation and identification of remedial measures where necessary.
  • Reviewing project performance regularly, and report any significant issues of concern to senior management when the situation warrants.
  • Reporting the completion of project milestones to ensure on‑time invoicing.
  • Negotiating and recording customer project variations ensuring relevant internal departments are notified in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring final project reports and workbooks are completed on time and in‑full.
  • Minimising the Company’s exposure to liabilities and maximising any opportunity to improve project margins.
  • Supporting proposal stage of projects by preparing Gantt charts and estimations for the tendering group.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have an Engineering based Bachelor of Science Degree or HND.
  • Have a Project Management Qualification.
  • Have experience in an engineering environment.
  • Have experience with controls products. Experience of BRUSH / Baker Hughes business tools is an advantage.
  • Have good project management experience.
  • Have experience dealing with customers.
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office Suite which includes Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  • Be determined, have problem solving skills, be customer focus, and team player.
