An established industry player is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to oversee engineering standards in design and construction for national projects. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards while leading a team of Project Engineers. The Senior Project Engineer will lead and manage the use of appropriate engineering standards in relation to design and construction on all projects within the national programme. They will ensure compliance with legislation, Railway Group, and Network Rail company standards, and monitor the employment of suitably qualified and experienced staff to control engineering aspects of all projects within the functional discipline.
Key responsibilities include implementing Network Rail systems and procedures to deliver a cost-effective, high-quality, and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning, and other technical activities on relevant projects. The role involves reviewing all relevant legislation and liaising with relevant governmental departments.
The Senior Project Engineer will monitor the competence of all Project Engineers working on projects within the discipline, providing guidance, direction, and briefings. They will apply engineering controls and procedures to ensure all design and construction contracts reference appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail standards applicable to their discipline.
The candidate will apply relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects. They will verify that the environmental aspects of all projects are managed in accordance with the Network Rail Environmental Policy.
Additionally, they will ensure projects are monitored for compliance and will advise project and programme management on all construction activities, testing, commissioning, and site supervision. The role includes reviewing design and construction activities and arranging audits of contractors to monitor the safety and quality of design, construction, testing, commissioning, and management systems.
Note: PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification is required.
