Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical Building Services

Location: Sheffield or Leeds

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive, plus Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits

Summary

We are seeking experienced mechanically biased Senior Project Engineers, based in Sheffield or Leeds, to join our team on a project near Barnsley.

In this role, you will lead project delivery, starting this summer, for approximately 18 months, with potential for ongoing work. The project involves refurbishment works on a live critical data centre, with occasional travel to Scotland.

Your responsibilities include ensuring all activities within your control meet specifications, are safe, profitable, and satisfy the customer. This is a permanent position with NG Bailey.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Promote a safety-first culture across all project activities.
  2. Participate in pre-project activities to optimize opportunities, efficiency, and profitability.
  3. Review project scope to accurately capture customer requirements.
  4. Identify and mitigate project risks and seize opportunities.
  5. Procure and deliver engineering solutions aligned with financial and commercial goals.
  6. Provide timely updates on site progress to the Project Manager and Commercial Lead.
  7. Manage subcontractors if applicable.
  8. Lead and motivate your project team to achieve objectives.
  9. Build and maintain positive client relationships.
  10. Ensure proper project close-out, maximizing profitability.
Candidate Requirements

Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in mechanical installations within construction, and previous similar roles.

  • Industry-recognized mechanical trade or professional qualification.
  • Experience on high-value building service projects (£10m+).
