Job summary

Osprey Shipping Limited in the UK is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead engineering solutions across heavy lift and transportation projects. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will oversee drawings, calculations and risk assessments for lifting, transport, load-out and marine operations.

You will mentor Project and Graduate Engineers, drive safe delivery on-site and in-office, and act as the main technical interface for clients and site teams to unlock new opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in an Engineering discipline (Masters preferred).
• Proven experience delivering complex, large-scale construction or heavy lift projects.
• Ability to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions in heavy lift/transport.
• Hands‑on lifting operations experience with mobile, tower, and crawler cranes.
• Confident client facing professional with leadership in technical discussions.
• Strong knowledge of technical codes, standards and governance.
• Produce and review high-quality technical documentation using AutoCAD and MathCAD.
• Mentor Junior/Graduate engineers with guidance and oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of innovative, technically robust engineering solutions across heavy lift, transportation, installation and marine operations.
• Take ownership of complex engineering deliverables including drawings, calculations, visualisations, methodologies and risk assessments.
• Drive operational engineering delivery both in office and on-site, ensuring safe, efficient execution.
• Oversee and review the work of project and graduate engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.
• Act as a primary technical interface for clients and site teams, leading meetings and site visits.
• Develop and approve engineering statements addressing complex lifting and transport challenges.
• Uphold technical standards and governance across the full project lifecycle.
