Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Senior Project Electrical Engineer in Reading to support mobilisation and delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure programme. You will provide electrical leadership across ECI and delivery phases, coordinating MEICA inputs and ensuring safe, compliant systems while supporting stakeholders and customers.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, IEng status or progress towards it, and proven nuclear project experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership of the IET or equivalent, with IEng status achieved or working towards accreditation.
  • Demonstrable experience in nuclear electrical project engineering.
  • Experience managing and implementing electrical safe systems of work.
  • Strong knowledge of high and low voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience of process control systems and hazardous or explosive atmospheres.
  • Experience delivering complex MEICA engineering design and construction projects.
  • Proven ability to work in highly regulated industries emphasizing safety, quality & compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering leadership across mobilisation and delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure framework.
  • Develop and maintain a competent team with appropriate nuclear skills and behaviours.
  • Lead electrical engineering activities across project lifecycles, including ECI and execution phases.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safe systems of work and oversee electrical safety management arrangements.
  • Act as a key technical authority for electrical engineering within the delivery team.
  • Coordinate electrical inputs across multidisciplinary MEICA projects.
  • Oversee design, delivery and commissioning of electrical systems in a regulated environment.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet quality, safety, regulatory and project requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote best practice across engineering and delivery.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Electrical Engineer to join our growing team and support the mobilisation and delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role on a high-profile, long-term customer framework, contributing to technically complex and nationally significant projects within a highly regulated environment.

Working within a collaborative and supportive team, you will help build and develop a competent workforce with strong nuclear capability while providing electrical engineering leadership throughout both the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and delivery phases of the programme.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical engineering leadership across the mobilisation and delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure framework.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a competent team with the appropriate nuclear skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours.
  • Lead the delivery of electrical engineering activities throughout project lifecycles, including ECI and execution phases.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical safe systems of work and provide oversight of electrical safety management arrangements.
  • Act as a key technical authority for electrical engineering matters within the project delivery team.
  • Manage and coordinate electrical engineering inputs across multidisciplinary MEICA projects.

Essential
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional membership of the IET or equivalent professional body, with Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status achieved or actively working towards accreditation.
  • Demonstrable experience in nuclear electrical project engineering.
  • Experience managing and implementing electrical safe systems of work.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience of process control systems and hazardous or explosive atmosphere installations.
  • Experience delivering complex, high-value MEICA engineering design and construction projects.
  • Proven ability to work within highly regulated industries where safety, quality and compliance are critical.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage technical risk and support project delivery within demanding operational environments.
Desirable
  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status or experience working within electrical authorisation frameworks.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure, energy, defence, nuclear or similarly regulated programmes.
  • Understanding of nuclear industry standards, governance and assurance processes.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and supporting capability development.
