Job summary

Qualifications

• A STEM degree (e.g., engineering, materials science) or equivalent experience demonstrating scientific principles and problem-solving.
• Extensive knowledge of machining processes and implementation with the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Skilled in information management, including capturing, carrying out, and following up on actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
• Willingness to engage in on-the-job training to expand knowledge and capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with adaptable planning.
• Resourceful in organizing resources and progressing work with appropriate support.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software and NC machining hardware.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Willingness to work on defence-related projects.
• Experience in performing practical experimental work.
• Experience writing reports and presenting to staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Technically support the delivery of high-quality machining projects in the Machining Group.
• Research, analyse, collate and edit data for reports and conclusions of tests and experiments.
• Prepare materials, tooling, fixtures and set up equipment to meet research objectives.
• Develop skills through external or on-the-job training.
• Communicate data and results to internal and external collaborators clearly.
• Plan short- and medium-term tasks to meet project objectives.
• Produce detailed project documentation such as statements of work and methodology.
• Perform machining activities as required by the project.
• Work with Project Management to plan and order tooling, materials and hardware.
• Collaborate with Machining Group, Central Team and staff to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Carry out other duties commensurate with the post.
