Job summary

Omega Resource Group is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer in the regional Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire area for a Global FMCG manufacturer. You will lead capital and revenue projects across factory equipment, packaging lines and site services, delivering value with cost and time discipline.

You will coach multi-functional engineering teams, ensure compliance with industry standards, and manage external suppliers through the project lifecycle, reporting to the Project Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Capital project management experience in FMCG manufacturing.
• Experience developing technical engineering solutions in automated environments.
• 5+ years of Engineering leadership in FMCG/manufacturing.
• Degree in Engineering; PM qualification or time-served background.

Responsibilities

• Manage planning and implementation of capital and revenue projects across factory equipment, process lines and site services.
• Drive line installations and BAU engineering projects.
• Plan and lead feasibility studies, equipment specifications, supplier selections and commissioning.
• Coach and develop multi-functional teams of engineers/contractors.
• Liaise with cross-functional departments to define project scopes and tender specs.

• Job Role: Senior Project Engineer


• Client: Global FMCG Manufacturer


• Reporting to: Head of Engineering


• Location: Regional, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire areas


• Client: Category Market leader in FMCG Manufacturing


• Reward: £60- 70k target plus £6-9k car benefit plus Bonus DOE open to high potential applicants

Role Responsibilities – Senior Project Engineer

• Manage the planning and implementation of capital and revenue projects, covering factory equipment, process, packing lines, site services, process engineering, as well as construction design management


• Drive line installations and BAU engineering projects


• Plan, execute and lead project activities for feasibility studies, equipment specifications, supplier selections, equipment commissioning and validation


• Reporting directly to the Project Engineering Manager, you will have complete autonomy to deliver pragmatic, value-engineered projects to cost and time specifications


• You will coach, mentor, and develop your multi-functional teams of engineers and designers/contractors


• The projects will cover factory equipment, including packaging, processing, and site activities


• Engineering Compliance Champion: Ensure all engineering activities meet industry standards


• You will lead engineering and production teams during equipment installation and start-up, supplier selection, feasibility and justification analysis, and equipment commissioning


• Liaise with departments cross-functionally to ascertain requirements and define project scopes


• Preparing specifications/briefs which will go to external suppliers for tender


• Managing tender processes, including supplier selection exercises


• Managing external suppliers throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications & Requirements – Senior Project Engineer

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering backgrounds will be considered, ideally in a regulated environment, from high-volume manufacturing.


• Experience developing technical engineering solutions in automated environments


• An experienced Project Engineer from FMCG manufacturing, food preferred


• Ideally, A degree in Engineering or time-served engineering qualifications with a further education qualification in project management


• High level of IT literacy (and ideally fully conversant with MS Project)


• Proven Leadership and senior stakeholder management: Significant experience in a senior engineering management role within the manufacturing FMCG-related sector


• This could include Food, Drink, Pharma and related consumer goods manufacturing, encompassing process and packaging


• Mechanical/electrical qualification or equivalent, ideally a degree, even better if you are chartered!


• 5+ years of Engineering leadership experience; with exposure to FMCG environments ideal


• Excellent People leadership skills to motivate, lead and drive projects
