SSEN Transmission have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lead Project Engineer to join our multi-disciplined engineering team to help develop and deliver our portfolio of high profile, high value and technically complex projects.
The role will require close collaboration with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, Operations, Delivery, contractors, consultants and other key internal and external stakeholders to co-ordinate technical interfaces, resolve engineering issues and support timely project decisions.
Sound technical understanding of HV transmission substation engineering (ideally including primary plant, AIS/GIS and protection and control) and the key interfaces between electrical, civil and secondary systems. Demonstrable experience of design and construction of transmission substations.
Extensive experience of project development, within Transmission or a similar industry, through the optioneering and initial design phases, with an ability to develop the optimum project solution, deliver to timescales and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline, with Electrical Engineering preferred. Candidates from other engineering disciplines with demonstrable HV transmission substation experience will also be considered. Chartered Engineer status, or working towards this, would be desirable.
Effective communication skills, and you must be able to communicate often complex technical issues clearly and concisely to facilitate decision making by senior management. You will be able to communicate effectively with key stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally, with an appetite for building strong, lasting relationships.
An excellent technical understanding of relevant legislation and the implications for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR, alongside a collaborative and solutions-focused approach to engineering challenges.
