Job summary

Vickerstock are recruiting a Senior Project Design Engineer (Lead) for an engineering and manufacturing business just north of the Mid Ulster Area. This is a senior appointment requiring hands-on design capability and the ability to lead projects and other engineers.

You will work on bespoke heavy metal fabrication projects, taking concepts through detailed design to manufacture, reporting to the Engineering Director. A strong background in structural calculations and FE analyses is essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in Senior Mechanical Project Design.
• Strong proficiency in structural analysis and engineering calculations, including the use of FEA/CAE tools.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver engineering design solutions across internal product development and third-party systems.
• Take projects from initial concept through detailed design to manufacture.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers and report to the Engineering Director.

Company and Role of Senior Project Design Engineer

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a successful and growing engineering and manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Lead Project Design Engineer for their operation which is just north of the Mid Ulster Area. This is a senior engineering appointment and an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer who combines strong hands‑on design capability with the ability to technically lead projects and other engineers. The business operates within Engineering / Heavy Metal Fabrication on very bespoke and variable products

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Senior Design Engineers, Lead Design Engineers, Design Managers or Project Design Engineers who have a strong proven background in structural calculations of products / machinery and are comfortable taking projects from initial concept through detailed design and ultimately into manufacture. Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you will lead and deliver engineering design solutions across both internal product development and third-party designed systems.

Essential Criteria for this Lead Project Design Engineer position

• 6+ years' experience within Senior Mechanical Project Design experience
• A strong proficiency in structural analysis and engineering calculations, including the use of FEA/CAE engineering analysis and simulation tools
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering related area
