Vickerstock is seeking a Lead Electronics Project Engineer in Magherafelt to drive technically complex electronics projects from initial concept through testing, manufacture and delivery. You will work directly with major customers and coordinate across Electronics, Software, Mechanical and Manufacturing teams.

Company and Role of Lead Electronics Project Engineer

Vickerstock are recruiting for a Lead Electronics Project Engineer on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business within the Magherafelt area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electronics Engineer who combines strong technical capability with project ownership and customer-facing experience.

You will take responsibility for technically complex customer projects, working from initial requirements and concept development through engineering, testing, manufacture and successful delivery.

The position will see you working across a multidisciplinary Engineering environment, ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood, technical activities remain aligned and practical engineering solutions are successfully delivered.

While this is a senior position, it remains technically involved and would particularly suit an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer, Electronics Project Engineer, Lead Electronics Engineer or Product Development Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and working directly with customers.

Key Responsibilities for this Lead Electronics Project Engineer position

Take technical ownership of electronic engineering projects from initial customer requirements through to delivery
Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements, applications and project constraints
Translate customer requirements into clear technical and engineering deliverables
Coordinate activities across Electronics, Software, Mechanical and Manufacturing teams
Provide technical input throughout the design and development of electronic products and systems
Lead technical discussions and engineering design reviews
Ensure engineering projects remain aligned with customer, technical and manufacturing requirements
Identify potential technical issues and drive effective engineering solutions
Act as a key technical contact for customers throughout project delivery
Support the development and introduction of new electronic products and engineering solutions
Work closely with Manufacturing during product introduction and production
Support testing, validation and resolution of technical issues
Investigate product and engineering problems and coordinate corrective actions
Identify opportunities for continued product and engineering improvements
Maintain appropriate technical documentation and engineering records
Manage multiple technical projects and priorities while maintaining clear communication between customers and internal Engineering teams

Essential Criteria for this Lead Electronics Project Engineer position

Strong previous experience within Electronics Engineering, Electronic Product Development, Project Engineering or a similar technical Engineering position
Good understanding of electronic systems and the electronic product development process
Experience taking engineering projects or products from initial requirements through development and delivery
Experience working directly with customers or key stakeholders in a technical capacity
Experience working across multidisciplinary Engineering teams
Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making capability
Experience within an engineering, technology or manufacturing environment
Ability to translate customer and commercial requirements into practical engineering solutions
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to take ownership of multiple technical projects and priorities
A third-level qualification within Electronics Engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or another relatable Engineering discipline

Experience within electronic products, control systems, automation, industrial equipment, mechatronics or another complex engineered product environment would be particularly relevant, although candidates from other electronic product development backgrounds will also be considered.

Previous experience providing technical leadership, mentoring Engineers or taking responsibility for significant customer engineering projects would be advantageous.
