Job summary

Vickerstock are recruiting a Lead R&D Electronics Engineer for an established technology and engineering business in the Greater Belfast area. The role is senior and hands-on, responsible for leading electronics development from concept through to manufacture.

You will own analogue and digital design, work with software and mechanical teams, and mentor engineers while driving successful introductions of new electronic designs into production.

Qualifications

Significant experience in Electronics Design Engineering or R&D.
Strong analogue and digital electronics design experience.
Experience developing complex electronic products or systems.
Proficient schematic capture and circuit design.
Good PCB design understanding and hardware development.
Experience through a structured product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Take technical ownership of electronic design and development activities.
Design and develop analogue and digital circuitry.
Develop solutions from concept through testing and validation.
Produce and review schematics and documentation.
Support PCB design and development activities.
Select and integrate electronic components and technologies.
Develop prototypes and lead testing and validation.
Investigate problems and deliver effective solutions.
Provide technical guidance to other engineers.

Company and Role of Lead R&D Electronics Engineer

Vickerstock are recruiting for a Lead R&D Electronics Engineer on behalf of an established technology and engineering business within the Greater Belfast area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electronics Engineer to take a senior technical role within a highly capable multidisciplinary R&D environment.

You will take significant technical responsibility across the development of advanced electronic products and systems, working from initial requirements and concept development through detailed design, testing, validation and introduction into manufacture.

This remains a strongly hands-on engineering position and would particularly suit an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer who wants to progress into a Lead R&D position while continuing to design, develop and solve complex electronic engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities for this Lead R&D Electronics Engineer position

Take technical ownership of electronic design and development activities
Design and develop analogue and digital electronic circuitry
Develop electronic solutions from initial concept through detailed design, testing and validation
Produce and review electronic schematics and associated technical documentation
Support PCB design and development activities
Select, evaluate and integrate electronic components and technologies
Develop prototypes and lead technical testing, debugging and validation activities
Investigate complex electronic engineering problems and develop effective solutions
Contribute to technical design reviews and provide technical guidance to other Engineers
Work closely with Software, Mechanical and other Engineering disciplines throughout product development
Support the continued development and improvement of existing products
Support the successful introduction of new electronic designs into manufacture
Ensure appropriate engineering documentation and design records are maintained throughout development

Essential Criteria for this Lead R&D Electronics Engineer position

Significant experience within Electronics Design Engineering, Electronic Product Development or R&D Engineering
Strong analogue and digital electronics design experience
Experience developing complex electronic products or systems
Strong schematic capture and circuit design capability
Good understanding of PCB design and electronic hardware development
Experience across prototype development, testing, debugging and design validation
Strong understanding of electronic component selection and integration
Experience taking electronic designs through a structured product development lifecycle
Strong technical and practical problem-solving capability
A degree within Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or another relatable Engineering discipline

Previous experience taking technical ownership of development projects, mentoring Engineers or providing technical guidance within an R&D environment would be particularly advantageous.
