Job description

LTS Architects is looking for a senior project architect to join its team in London.

LTS Architects, Spitalfields, London, full time, salary £50,000– £58,000 depending on experience.

About LTS

LTS Architects is a practice of 12 based in Spitalfields – designing buildings that work for the people who use them. Most of our projects are in education and sacred architecture – and much of the work involves conservation, sustainability and getting more out of existing buildings. You can see some of our work here: www.lts-architects.co.uk

The role

We are looking for a senior architect with around 10 years’ post-qualification experience to run projects from our studio.

You will take projects from briefing and concept through planning, technical design and contract administration to completion on site. The split is roughly half hands-on design work and half directing others; projects typically carry at least two support staff depending on size.

Day to day you will hold the client relationship – coordinate the design team – mentor junior colleagues and keep quality consistent across drawing sets and construction detailing.

What we are looking for:
  • a designer first: a portfolio that shows strong concept work and equally strong built detail – with real judgement in construction and materials
  • confident leading a team across RIBA stages 0 to 7 – on more than one project at a time
  • sound knowledge of UK building regulations and construction detailing
  • commercial awareness: able to organise your own time and your team’s – and deliver to the fee plan
  • comfortable presenting to clients – and a clear writer
  • calm under pressure – curious – proactive – and willing to take responsibility
  • sustainability as instinct rather than a bolt-on
  • proficient in Revit; AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Suite also useful
  • eligible to work permanently in the UK
Useful, not essential:
  • experience in HE sector
  • retrofit
  • heritage or listed buildings
  • interiors
  • experience of – or interest in – the Principal Designer role under the Building Safety Act
  • bid writing experience
What we offer:
  • competitive salary based on experience
  • a route to long-term growth and equity for the right person
  • a friendly – collaborative studio with sensible working hours
  • private healthcare and cycle to work scheme
  • weekly studio lunches – studio social events – work from home one day a week and a full CPD and training programme

Start date as soon as possible.
