Purpose of the Role:

You will be part of a large team of skilled machinists working at pace to deliver high-quality CNC programmes and precision engineered metallics, driving performance on track throughout the season. During the build season, you will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating multi-axis machines to produce and inspect complex parts, contributing to building a new race car. You will utilize your skills and experience in programming and CNC machining centres to manufacture car components, pit equipment, and parts.

Reporting and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Machining Team Leader(s) and/or Shift Lead(s), your responsibilities include delivering high-quality programmes and components on time, adhering to best practices, and embracing continuous improvement to meet departmental strategic goals. The role requires a skilled, diligent, and agile individual who works well as part of a team and is target-driven.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Create programmes and machine components following best practices using supplied drawings and CAD files.
  • Maintain programmes and tooling records for all produced components.
  • Support management and Production Engineers to maximize machine efficiency.
  • Inspect parts diligently to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain shift handover records with other shift employees.
  • Adhere to health and safety legislation and contribute positively to safety standards in the workshop.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Previous experience in manufacturing small batch precision components, preferably in motorsport, aerospace, or similar environments.
  • Proven track record as a craftsperson.
  • Experience with OPENMIND CAM software.
  • Extensive experience using multi-axis machine tools.
  • Experience programming and operating control systems such as Mazatrol, Heidenhain, or Fanuc.
  • Experience with ISO or other conversational CNC programming.
