Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Senior Sponsor (Programme Lead) to align investment planning with business objectives across a capital delivery portfolio. The role focuses on governance, performance review and delivering customer and environmental outcomes.

The post requires strong stakeholder influence and experience in complex infrastructure projects. The role is hybrid, with regular Reading office attendance and site visits.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage stakeholders across large programmes.
• Strong data analysis to support decision-making.
• Experience producing governance and investment papers or business cases.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of risk and delivery performance.
• Degree in built environment, engineering, or project management preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day management of a capital investment programme with multiple projects.
• Review performance across scope, cost, schedule, quality and risk.
• Provide analysis and recommendations for investment decisions.
• Produce governance papers, reports and business cases.
• Challenge assumptions and identify delivery improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Capital Delivery, Engineering, Operations, Finance and Commercial teams.
• Support risk, issue and change management across the portfolio.
• Monitor benefits realisation and ensure objectives are achievable.
• Prepare clear updates for senior stakeholders and governance forums.
