Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is seeking an experienced senior project/programme manager to design, deliver, and evaluate complex high-value initiatives. You will drive clinical pathway development, work with nursing and clinical teams, and coordinate with national NHS partners to improve organ donation services across the UK.

In a high-impact role, you will ensure initiatives are well-governed, evidence-based, and deliver measurable benefits for NHSBT, donors, and patients.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading complex change programmes with demonstrable benefits.
• Experience of developing business cases using the Five Case Model and navigating public-sector approvals.
• Experience of risk and issue management, governance, and assurance processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scoping, definition, and planning of complex projects and programmes.
• Oversee full lifecycle delivery within NHSBT standards and P3M methodology.
• Manage and optimise resources to deliver programme outcomes and strategic objectives.
• Direct day-to-day management of programme delivery, including budgeting and dependencies.
• Provide structure, visibility, and focus over delivery amid uncertainty.
• Drive benefits realisation and measurable strategic impact for NHSB, donors and patients.
• Lead and guide multi-disciplinary delivery teams within a matrix structure.
