Job summary

The National Physical Laboratory seeks a Governance Manager within its Time & Frequency PMO to own governance, assurance and reporting arrangements for the programme. You will deliver data-driven insights to inform senior decision-makers and drive continuous improvement across the delivery ecosystem.

As a senior PMO member, you will ensure decision-making is well informed, evidenced and properly controlled, aligning with GMPP standards and external stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

• Experience of governance and assurance on complex, high-value programmes, ideally within the Government Major Projects Portfolio.
• Strong technical grounding with the strategic awareness and judgement to influence senior decision-makers.
• Able to communicate complex information clearly and challenge constructively when it matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of governance, assurance and reporting frameworks.
• Provide independent, strategic analysis and advice on delivery confidence, risk exposure and mitigations to senior decision-makers.
• Oversee governance and performance reporting to align with GMPP standards and external stakeholder requirements.
• Ensure honest, data-driven assessments of programme performance are communicated clearly.
• Establish and maintain programme boards, terms of reference and escalation routes for complexity.
