Job summary

University of Birmingham invites applications for a leadership role to manage a large team of Professional Services staff delivering administrative services for Postgraduate Taught programmes in the College of Medicine and Health.

The post holder will join the Education Services and Support team of over 100 staff, ensuring compliant, accurate administration and excellent customer service across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent plus practical managerial experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a diverse team.
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop new models of delivering the service.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop and support a large team of Senior Education Support Administrators and Education Support Administrators.
  • Responsible for delivering an administration service that is compliant, accurate, and meets quality standards.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of University regulations, policies and procedures and provide guidance to colleagues.
  • Recruit and develop staff with sufficient training and regulatory knowledge.
  • Review, audit and analyse programme and student data to ensure accuracy.
  • Develop insights from data to propose improvements during programme reviews.
  • Support the Academic Team to develop the teaching and assessment calendar.
  • Investigate and respond to complex queries and complaints to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Review administrative processes to improve efficiency and consistency of service.
  • Represent the programme administration service at Committees and boards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external providers such as NHS Trusts for student placements.
  • Contribute to professional development and participate in improvement projects.
