Job summary

Forterra Building Products Ltd in Accrington seeks a Senior Operative to join the team on a 4 on 4 off days and nights pattern. You will work with the Shift Manager to ensure production targets are met across clay preparation, extrusion, setting and de-hacking while upholding safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include completing daily safety inspections, conducting quality checks, monitoring processes and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months training with competency check.
• Inductions and mandatory safety trainings listed in the posting.
• IOSH Managing Safely and Lean Manufacturing exposure preferred.
• No formal academic qualifications required beyond training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all safety inspections (Before Use) are completed and logged.
• Carry out daily safety tours and address hazards.
• Brief production teams on targets, changes, and safety alerts.
• Ensure correct PPE is worn by all personnel and visitors.
• Conduct quality checks and record results across processes.
• Monitor kiln car setting and downtime to minimize unplanned downtime.
