We have a new vacancy for a Senior Production Engineer based in Shipley, reporting to the Lead Production Engineer.
Your mission in CMbE
The role focuses on providing technical support to all levels of the business and customers alike and will make key technical decisions. This role will assist in the review of new products for manufacture, preparing quotations for sub-contracting internal capabilities and will take the lead with capital investment projects when required.
The Senior Production Engineer will stand in for the Lead Production Engineers when needed and take responsibility for completing delegated tasks.
Essential Skills and Experience
A solid understanding and knowledge of metal working processes and material properties is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will have the ability to demonstrate machine safety standards and be proficient in offline and online programming (specifically G-code programs), manufacturing methods, processes, tooling and set up sheets. Essential to this role is a solid understanding and knowledge of 3D CAD and CAM software (Siemens NX bias but not limited to include Alpha CAM / Mazatrol / Heidenhain as required), and NC simulation such as Vericut, Veri-prog, Mazak Smooth and Heidenhain TNC.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate considerable experience in engineered part manufacture and will have the ability to understand and choose the best manufacturing methods/processes, including the ability to select cost effective / efficient tooling for manufacture and to calculate speeds and feeds for selected tooling and manufacturing methods. The ability and experience to produce and interpret technical drawings and lead small projects, providing detailed timing plans is essential for this role.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain and Mazak machine controls as required.
About you
You must have a formal technical qualification in a Mechanical engineering discipline from level 3 or equivalent. The successful completion of formal management training is advantageous. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to communicate technical information with various stakeholders both internal and external to the business; together with strong verbal and written skills, analytical, critical and problem-solving skills and be highly organised. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high quality of work, and be a team player, who is willing to share knowledge with co-workers.
