Job summary

Pertemps Leeds is assisting in recruiting a Senior Production Chemist for a global leader in industrial, medical and speciality gases. The role involves gravimetrically preparing calibration gases and reference materials to ISO standards, with emphasis on safety, quality and production coordination.

Based at the Uttoxeter site, you will deputise for the Production Manager when needed, manage workload scheduling and stock control while maintaining rigorous production records.

Qualifications

• Minimum A-Level or equivalent qualification in a science discipline.
• Extensive practical experience handling gas cylinders and high‑pressure gases.
• Experience using vacuum equipment and laboratory high‑pressure gas‑control equipment.
• Experience working with high‑precision balances.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and database systems.

Responsibilities

• Produce calibration gases and reference materials in accordance with ISO 6142 and ISO 17034 accredited processes.
• Maintain accurate production records and the cylinder control database for company and client‑owned cylinders.
• Work with gas cylinders, high‑pressure gases, vacuum equipment and high‑precision balances.
• Act as a Flam/Ox approved signatory, assessing gas mixture compositions to ensure safe manufacture.
• Produce safety filling procedures and peer‑reviewing procedures completed by other approved signatories.
• Deputise for the Production Manager when required, including scheduling workloads and coordinating departmental priorities.
• Support ordering and stock control of gas cylinders, pure source gases and general support gases.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high standards of safety, quality and operational performance.
