Job summary

Pertemps Network Group in Uttoxeter is seeking a Senior Production Chemist with a strong background in speciality gases to join our established team.

The role involves gravimetrically producing calibration gases and reference materials to ISO 6142/17034, maintaining records, supervising shifts, and deputising for the Production Manager.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Hours: Monday to Friday, no weekends

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Production Chemist with a background in speciality gases, calibration gases or high-pressure laboratory environments looking for your next opportunity?

Our client, a leading organisation within the industrial, medical and speciality gases sector, is looking for a Senior Production Chemist to join their established team in Uttoxeter.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior technical position combining hands‑on production chemistry with responsibility for quality, safety, production coordination and supporting the wider department.

The Role

As Senior Production Chemist, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate production of gravimetrically prepared calibration gases and reference materials, working within internationally recognised quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing calibration gases and reference materials in accordance with ISO 6142 and ISO 17034 accredited processes
• Maintaining accurate production records and the cylinder control database for company and client‑owned cylinders
• Working extensively with gas cylinders, high‑pressure gases, vacuum equipment, laboratory gas‑control equipment and high‑precision balances
• Acting as a Flam/Ox approved signatory, assessing gas mixture compositions to ensure they can be manufactured safely
• Producing safety filling procedures and peer‑reviewing procedures completed by other approved signatories
• Deputising for the Production Manager when required, including scheduling workloads and coordinating departmental priorities
• Supporting the ordering and stock control of gas cylinders, pure source gases and general support gases
• Working closely with colleagues and wider stakeholders to maintain high standards of safety, quality and operational performance.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a strong technical background who is comfortable working within a high-pressure gas or specialist laboratory environment.

You'll ideally have:

• Minimum A-Level or equivalent qualification in a science discipline
• Extensive practical experience handling gas cylinders and high-pressure gases
• Experience using vacuum equipment and laboratory high-pressure gas‑control equipment
• Experience working with high‑precision balances
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and database systems, with the ability to learn bespoke software

Our client is offering a £36,000 – £42,000 basic salary depending on experience, alongside an 8% annual bonus.

The position is Monday to Friday and fully site‑based in Uttoxeter, offering a stable working pattern within an established technical environment.
