Job description

Our sensors operate in some of the most demanding environments on earth, from Formula 1 to Aerospace and beyond. We are looking for a Product leader who can turn a world-class motorsport technology portfolio into a larger, more profitable and more scalable business line.

This is an ideal opportunity for somebody with exacting standards that is equally comfortable architecting a strategic vision and rolling sleeves up to ensure excellent execution. They will be supported by a Junior Product Manager, who they will have direct line management responsibility for.

This role combines technical innovation with commercial accountability, including multi-million-pound P&L ownership and a mandate to drive production efficiency. The role will lead positive changes in activities undertaken across Engineering, Operations, Quality and Sales disciplines to deliver products that grow revenues by enhancing performance, reliability, operational throughput and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the sensors product range by identifying key market segments, aligning product features to customer needs, and setting pricing to maximise commercial returns. Oversee the full product lifecycle, including phasing out old products and introducing new ones.
  • Own and grow the P&L for the portfolio, managing budgets, forecasting, cost control, and revenue generation through internal and external programmes.
  • Develop growth strategies for the portfolio, identifying new market opportunities, adjacent applications and investment priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve product cost, manufacturability, supply‑chain resilience and production throughput through process improvement, automation, outsourcing and supplier development.
  • Prioritise the product development and maintenance work led by the Product Development Manager and Engineering team.
  • Ensure products and systems meet exacting standards for quality, accuracy, durability, responsiveness, and regulatory compliance (e.g., FIA in motorsport).
  • Represent the function in product reviews, commercial discussions, and strategic planning forums.
  • Occasional travel expected to meet customers (predominantly UK‑based top‑tier racing teams) and critical suppliers/partners as well as participate in major industry events.
  • Experience owning a product line, business unit or technology portfolio with direct accountability for revenue and profitability.
  • Proven ability to define and execute product roadmaps based on market and customer insight.
  • Experience improving profitability through portfolio management, supply‑chain optimisation, pricing strategy and operational improvement.
  • Experience in sensor technology within motorsport or high‑performance environments.
  • Strong technical understanding in the design and manufacture of electronic and mechatronic products.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to inspire positive culture and continuous improvement across Operations, Engineering, Quality and Sales teams.
  • Previous external supplier management experience including the negotiation and management of commercial contracts.
Desirable Attributes
  • Passion for motorsport and a drive for continuous performance improvement.
  • Experience taking technologies into new industry applications.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, high‑stakes environments with autonomy.
  • Takes a collaborative approach to achieving results. Ability to tactfully challenge without alienating and build a strong internal network to support ability to influence.
