Job description

About you

You’re a Product Manager who thinks mobile-first. You understand what makes a great native app experience, from intuitive user journeys and seamless interactions to performance, retention and conversion. You know how to drive commercial impact through owning a mobile product area end to end, setting direction, prioritising improvements and working closely with engineering and design to turn customer problems into products people love to use.

You connect great product experiences to business performance, understanding how mobile decisions influence revenue, lifetime value, conversion and marketplace efficiency. You’re comfortable weighing customer value against commercial opportunity, translating opportunities into commercial hypotheses, defining success measures and using evidence to decide where investment will pay off.

Building a great marketplace app takes more than good UX. You know how buyers and sellers behave, how supply and demand interact, and how search, discovery, monetisation and trust shape the experience.

You combine strong product judgment with a hands- on approach, using data, customer research and experimentation to identify opportunities, validate ideas and measure impact. You can move from product strategy to detailed user flows, Figma handovers and delivery.

You’re motivated by solving meaningful customer problems and owning outcomes in a fast‑growing business.

About the role

As our dedicated Senior Product Manager for mobile, you’ll own and evolve a key area of our native iOS and Android apps, making them the best way for buyers and sellers to experience our marketplace.

You’ll shape the mobile product strategy and roadmap for your area, identifying opportunities to improve discovery, engagement, conversion and retention.

You’ll also be accountable for how your area contributes to Car & Classic’s commercial performance — growing valuable customer activity, improving conversion and monetisation, and delivering sustainable value for the marketplace, not simply shipping features or increasing engagement in isolation.

This is a hands‑on role. You’ll work closely with engineering and design on mobile‑first journeys, flows and requirements, navigating technical trade‑offs and the realities of native app development, from release cycles to app‑store performance.

Because Car & Classic is a two‑sided marketplace, you’ll consider how changes affect buyers and sellers, marketplace liquidity and commercial outcomes.

The opportunity is to make a tangible difference to how people discover, buy and sell classic and specialist vehicles through our apps — combining mobile product craft, marketplace thinking and data‑led decision‑making.

About us

www.carandclassic.com

Car & Classic is one of the largest automotive marketplaces in the world. Launched in 2005 but under new, VC‑backed ownership since 2018 and on an exciting double‑digit growth journey to bring classic vehicle transactions online.

Our culture is incredibly important to us. We’re lucky enough to have built the team from scratch with a focus on enjoying the day‑to‑day, diversity, inclusion and high performance. We’re a fully remote team of builders, dreamers, and petrolheads using tech to connect enthusiasts with the machines that move them. If you’re driven by passion and curious about shaping the future of classic motoring online, you’ll fit right in.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager who has good, relevant experience and wants to make their mark in a rapid‑growth business where they can make a real difference whilst enjoying the environment and culture.

Role and responsibilities
  • Own the mobile product roadmap: Set the strategy, objectives and priorities for your product area across our native iOS and Android apps, aligning mobile improvements with customer needs and business goals.

  • Create outstanding app experiences: Identify opportunities to make mobile journeys more intuitive, useful and seamless, from discovery and search through to key buyer and seller actions.

  • Lead mobile product discovery: Use customer feedback, user research, usability testing and product analytics to uncover friction, understand behaviour and identify high‑impact improvements.

  • Drive commercial performance: Identify and prioritise opportunities to improve conversion, monetisation, revenue contribution and customer value, connecting product initiatives to clear commercial objectives and measurable results.

  • Measure product and business impact: Track relevant metrics such as conversion, engagement, retention and lead quality, alongside appropriate commercial measures such as revenue contribution, monetisation performance and value generated across the marketplace. Use experimentation and evidence to understand what works and where to iterate.

  • Test, learn and iterate: Form hypotheses, design or guide A/B tests where appropriate, interpret results and turn learning into better mobile experiences.

  • Shape app features hands‑on: Use Figma to create structured user flows, annotated designs and detailed product handovers that help engineering and design deliver with clarity.

  • Partner closely with engineering: Translate product problems into clear requirements, work through technical constraints and trade‑offs, and support reliable delivery across native app release cycles.

  • Own outcomes beyond launch: Monitor the impact of shipped features, identify issues and opportunities, and continuously improve the app experience based on evidence.

  • Think beyond individual features: Understand how mobile product decisions influence marketplace supply, demand, liquidity, monetisation and trust across buyers and sellers.

  • Align teams around the right work: Bring structure to product discussions, communicate decisions clearly and collaborate across functions to keep delivery focused on meaningful outcomes.

The skills, attributes and experience you must have
  • Native mobile product management: Proven experience owning and improving native iOS and Android apps as a product surface, including mobile‑first user flows, release cycles and app‑store performance.

  • Two‑sided marketplace experience: A track record as a Product Manager in a consumer marketplace or classifieds business, with a practical understanding of supply, demand and liquidity.

  • Mobile product optimisation: Experience using analytics, customer insights, research and experimentation to identify friction, validate opportunities and improve product performance.

  • Product strategy and ownership: The ability to set objectives, shape a roadmap and make prioritisation decisions within a defined product area.

  • Commercial product judgment: Experience connecting product strategy and roadmap decisions to business performance, identifying commercial opportunities and evaluating the impact of product changes on conversion, monetisation, revenue or customer value.

  • Strong product execution: The ability to turn complex problems into clear requirements, structured feature scopes and user flows that support efficient development.

  • Figma and product communication: Competence using Figma to document product flows, annotate designs and create detailed handover materials.

  • Data‑informed decision‑making: Experience interpreting product metrics and designing or reading A/B tests to evaluate product decisions.

  • Commercial and marketplace judgment: Understanding of search and ranking, marketplace monetisation and trust and safety, including how decisions can affect both sides of a platform.

  • Cross‑functional collaboration: The ability to work effectively with engineering, design and business stakeholders, balancing customer value, technical feasibility and commercial priorities.

  • Ownership and accountability: A proactive approach to identifying risks, resolving blockers, making sound decisions and driving measurable outcomes.

The skills, attributes and experience it would be nice to have
  • Mobile discovery and usability: Experience conducting or guiding usability testing, discovery sessions and user research specifically for mobile journeys.

  • Marketplace funnel optimisation: Experience improving conversion, engagement, retention or lead quality in a two‑sided marketplace.

  • Monetisation and revenue optimisation: Experience improving marketplace monetisation, developing commercial hypotheses or identifying opportunities to grow revenue while maintaining a strong customer experience.

  • Mobile delivery insight: Experience working through the practical challenges of native app development, coordinating releases and iterating on live app experiences.

  • Product leadership: Experience sharing product knowledge, providing constructive feedback or supporting the development of other Product Managers.

This role probably isn’t for you if
  • You prefer working in isolation: This role relies on close collaboration with engineering, design, marketing and other stakeholders to deliver strong product outcomes.

  • You haven’t owned the app or marketplace product: The successful candidate must come from an app specialism, ideally from a 2‑sided marketplace environment. If you don’t have either of these, we won’t be able to consider your application.

  • You want to focus only on delivery: The role combines hands‑on execution with strategic ownership, customer discovery, prioritisation and commercial judgement.

  • You prefer making decisions without evidence: We value curiosity, customer insight, data and experimentation when deciding what to build and how to improve it.
