Job Title: Senior Product Design Engineer, NPD

Location: Battersea, London, Hybrid 3 days a week in the office

We are seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to join our UK NPD team, focusing on developing innovative wet cleaning products for the Shark brand. Working from our London Design Office, you will contribute technical expertise and inspiration to deliver market-ready solutions.

What You’ll Do

1. Lead technical problem-solving during product development, independently and within teams.
2. Mentor junior team members, with potential for line management, supporting team efforts.
3. Collaborate to define user, design, and functional requirements; deliver and validate solutions through testing and consensus-building.
4. Own the design process from conception to CAD, prototyping, and verification, working efficiently and fostering team development.
5. Continuously improve designs for cost, manufacturing, quality, and consumer value.
6. Apply sound engineering and product design standards to create effective solutions.
7. Leverage understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials to optimize designs.
8. Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues.
9. Collaborate with US, UK, and China-based teams, as well as cross-functional and executive teams, to ensure successful product launch.

What You’ll Bring

1. 5+ years of proven experience in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
2. Strong understanding of mechanical systems in high-voltage environments, including materials, heat dissipation, vibration control, and structural integrity.
3. Knowledge of electromechanical systems, electrical safety, insulation, creepage/clearance, thermal management.
4. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo.
5. Experience with injection molding, suitable high-voltage materials (PPS/PAGF).
6. Expertise in high-voltage insulation and safety, including risk management (FMEA, DFMEA, HAZOP).
7. Understanding of testing and certification standards (IP ratings, dielectric, thermal, partial discharge).
8. Ability to design, build, and test prototypes; familiar with environmental testing for reliability.
9. Proficiency in 2D drawing, assembly, BOM management, GD&T knowledge is a plus.
