Job summary

Bis Henderson Recruitment is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to own and optimise the supplier base across the UK, Far East and India. You will drive negotiations, secure best pricing and ensure stock availability, balancing cost and performance with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates will have strong supplier relationships, a track record of cost savings, and the ability to manage complex international sourcing while maintaining margin and lead times.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full supplier relationship across UK, Far East and Indian suppliers.
• Develop strong, professional relationships with key suppliers and negotiate effectively.

• Monitor stock availability, lead times, minimum order quantities and supplier capacity.
• Identify and mitigate potential supply issues before they impact the business.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, freight costs and other commercial agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance against cost, quality, delivery and service expectations.
• Continuously review the supplier base and identify new sourcing opportunities.
• Work with sales, operations, finance and logistics to support wider business objectives.
• Analyse purchasing spend, margins, pricing and market conditions for cost reductions.

Summary

We are looking for an experienced, commercially driven Procurement Specialist to take ownership of our supplier base across the UK, Far East and India. This is a hands‑on role for someone who understands that procurement is about far more than placing orders. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, securing the right products at the right price, maintaining stock availability and continually looking for opportunities to improve margin, cost and supply performance. You will need to be a confident negotiator, commercially astute and comfortable working with suppliers across different international markets. Experience of sourcing and managing suppliers in India is essential, alongside experience dealing with UK and Far East suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full supplier relationship across UK, Far East and Indian suppliers.
• Develop strong, professional relationships with key suppliers and negotiate effectively to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
• Own purchasing decisions, ensuring the right products are sourced at the right quality, price and time.
• Monitor and manage stock availability, lead times, minimum order quantities and supplier capacity.
• Identify and mitigate potential supply issues before they impact the business.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, freight costs and other commercial agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance against cost, quality, delivery and service expectations.

• Work closely with sales, operations, finance and logistics to ensure procurement decisions support wider business objectives.
• Analyse purchasing spend, margins, pricing and market conditions to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved profitability.
• Maintain a strong understanding of international sourcing, shipping, currency fluctuations, and the wider commercial factors affecting landed cost.
• Ensure purchasing is aligned with demand and stock requirements, avoiding both excess stock and stock shortages.
• Challenge suppliers and internal stakeholders where appropriate, always looking for a better commercial outcome.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records and provide regular updates on costs, availability, and supplier performance.

Key Skills/Experience

• Proven experience in a procurement, purchasing or buying role.
• Direct experience managing suppliers in India - essential.
• Experience working with suppliers across the Far East and UK.
• Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
• A proven track record of delivering cost savings and commercial improvements.
• Excellent understanding of stock management, forecasting and availability.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of margin and landed cost.
• The confidence to negotiate firmly while maintaining productive long‑term supplier relationships.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the bigger commercial picture.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions and take ownership.
• Good Excel/data analysis skills and the ability to use information to make commercially sound decisions.
