Job summary

Swindon Borough Council is seeking a senior procurement professional to lead complex procurements, ensuring compliance with public sector regulations and governance. You will collaborate with frontline teams across highways, housing, corporate repairs, fleet and environmental services to deliver high-value outcomes for residents.

The role requires a degree-level qualification in procurement or MCIPS (or working towards) and extensive experience in a public sector context.

Contracts, Commissioning and Business Assurance (CCBA) works across the Council's Operations directorate, supporting front-line services to deliver high-quality outcomes for Swindon's residents.

We provide expert procurement support, practical contract management guidance, robust health and safety governance, business assurance and project management. Our work underpins the effective commissioning of services provided directly to residents, making this an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports delivery at pace and helps improve everyday experiences across the borough.

This role provides senior procurement expertise across the Council's Operations service area, leading the delivery of high-value and complex procurements for works, goods and services. Working closely with front-line teams across areas such as highways, housing and corporate repairs, fleet, waste and environmental services, you will manage end-to-end procurement activity, ensure compliance with public procurement regulations and support the successful delivery of services directly to Swindon's residents. The role spans a variety of contract types, including NEC and JCT, offering a diverse and challenging portfolio of work.

The team operates a hybrid working model with all practitioners expected to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
