Job Title: Senior Procurement Officer

Swindon Borough Council is looking for experienced Senior Procurement Officers to join the Procurement Contracts & Finance Team within the Operations Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the team and develop strategies for procurement, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with the council’s priorities.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide procurement leadership, decision-making, and technical advice to achieve value for money and manage risks effectively.
• Handle procurement for major projects with high value, high risk, or complex requirements, including framework agreements and dynamic purchasing systems.
• Manage procurement activities across various sectors including housing, corporate buildings, construction projects, mechanical and electrical works, compliance, fleet, and waste.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in procurement roles, with knowledge of legislation and policy contexts.
• Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of construction, housing refurbishment, and familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts is advantageous.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Fluency in English is required for customer-facing interactions.
