The role holder will be supported with time and funding to complete their qualification for Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) membership, which will be funded annually by the organization during employment. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in end-to-end public sector procurement aiming to advance into category management. The purpose of this role is to provide commercial experience aligned with Government Commercial Function (GCF) best practices by leading the delivery of a Commercial Category Management approach. Responsibilities include managing all stages of the commercial lifecycle, demonstrating value through cost savings and avoidance, and improving the Category Management function. Senior Procurement Officers will collaborate with stakeholders on subcategory plans, determine optimal routes to market, and manage lifecycle activities through a risk-based, business-led buying approach. Strong relationship-building, influencing, and negotiating skills are essential for maintaining collaborative stakeholder relationships.
The Senior Procurement Officer will deliver effective, improving commercial services for one or more sub-categories, with opportunities to develop policies, improve processes, and provide assurance to the commercial function and wider business. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
