Job description

Job Title: Senior Category Buyer

National Grid is seeking a Senior Category Buyer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to a Category Manager, this role involves strategic procurement within designated business areas, partnering with the Category Manager to deliver category strategies, and engaging with stakeholders to understand supply chain needs and offer optimal solutions.

Our procurement strategy focuses on Partnering, Scale, and Operational Transformation to enhance our relationships, leverage our collective strength, and streamline processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver strategic sourcing events and develop sourcing strategies for assigned categories.
• Collaborate with Contract Managers and Procurement Programme Managers to ensure contract success and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Mentor and guide Buyers and Associate Buyers to uphold procurement standards.
• Research supply markets, assess trends, and provide insights to global and market teams.
• Manage tender events and develop contractual agreements to meet stakeholder needs.

Candidate Profile

• Significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management.
• Understanding of project management principles and experience managing multiple projects.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to develop complex assessment models.
• Experience in contract development and amendments.

What We Offer

A competitive salary ranging from £46,415 to £58,760, dependent on capability, along with bonuses, a contributory pension scheme, flexible benefits, and hybrid/flexible working options. Base locations include Warwick, Bristol, or Castle Donington.

Additional Information
