Job summary

Action for Children is seeking a Senior Procurement Manager (Permanent, 35 hours per week) to lead a small procurement team, based remotely in the UK. You will manage wide-scale spend categories, drive procurement transformation, and maintain strong supplier relationships to deliver value for the charity and the communities it serves.

The role requires MCIPS and prior experience in not-for-profit or public sector procurement, with a focus on high-value contracts and change leadership.

  • MCIPS qualification required.
  • Experience in not-for-profit or public sector preferred.
  • Experience managing high value contracts in procurement.
  • Ability to influence stakeholder behavior and shape requirements.
  • Experience in supplier relationships and procurement strategy.
  • Managing staff and modelling professional standards.
  • Understanding of EDI policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and manage a small procurement team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure needs are understood and procurement guidance provided.
  • Update and implement changes to the procurement strategy for Action for Children.
  • Manage outsourcing partners within spend categories through tenders or negotiations.
  • Negotiate commercial and contractual arrangements with suppliers.
  • Drive compliance and governance across procurement processes.
  • Oversee end-to-end procurement to pay process.
  • Manage category portfolios including spend prioritisation, cost savings, and supplier lifecycle management.

Job description

Senior Procurement Manager.

Salary:£56,000 per annum.

Location:Remote (based from home, must be based in the UK).

Contract/Hours:Permanent, 35 hours per week.

A bit about the role

As Senior Procurement Manager on a Permanent Contract, you will be strategically manage commercial procurement of a wide range of large scale spend categories across the organisation and supporting with changing the approach to procurement at all levels within the organisation, including maximising efficiencies and ensuring effective systems are in place. You will also manage a small team of Procurement professionals.

  • Develop, lead, and manage a small procurement team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of needs and drivers to provide appropriate guidance and solutions on procurement.
  • Update and implement changes to the procurement strategy for Action for Children
  • Manage outsourcing partners within any spend category through competitive tender exercises or negotiation.
  • Apply a robust supplier selection and management strategy and to negotiate appropriate commercial and contractual arrangements with suppliers.
  • Drive compliance and managing the appropriate controls, governance, and process.
  • Manage the complete procurement to pay process.
  • Oversee the management and maintain responsibility for the professional or technical category portfolio, including prioritising spend activity, identifying cost savings, tendering, and managing complete supplier and product / service life cycles.
Let's talk about you
  • MCIPS Qualified.
  • Experience in a not for profit or public sector environment would be preferred.
  • Experience of working in a procurement environment and management of high value contracts.
  • Ability to influence change to behaviour and to use this influence stakeholders and shape requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and to establish relationships with new suppliers.
  • Proven ability to guide and advise on all complex procurement matters.
  • Develop and review of a procurement strategy.
  • Managing staff and role modelling professional standards and behaviours.
  • Demonstrable understanding of EDI policies and their application in the workplace.
