Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Senior Research Engineer (Process Development) to drive research activities in TRL1-6 at the Luton site. You will lead technical work, manage budgets, schedules and risk, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative ice protection and transparencies technologies.

The role requires strong communication, leadership of project work packages, and willingness to travel nationally.

Qualifications

• Essential: Engineering or Science degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience leading technical work with budgeting, scheduling and risk management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Experience managing deployed resources and engaging production teams.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and APQP/PPAP requirements.
• Ability to plan, cost work packages and deliver to time in multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical outputs for project work packages and ensure objectives are met.
• Lead or support development tests and trials to meet deliverables.
• Design external work packages with third parties to meet research objectives.
• Capture and document data and results from tests and trials.
• Produce high quality technical documentation.
• Understand target product/processing tech strategy and contribute to plans.
• Support multi-year planning and funding proposals as required.
• Identify exploitation routes aligned with project guidance and manage stakeholders.
