Job summary

GKN Aerospace in Luton is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Electronics) to apply broad engineering expertise across the product lifecycle for aircraft ice protection systems. You will lead technical work, manage budgets and schedules, and mentor team members to deliver critical research and design objectives.

The role covers electro-thermal/electro-mechanical systems, sensing, embedded software and data analysis, with interaction across customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• HNC, degree or equivalent in electrical or systems engineering.
• Experience delivering electro-mechanical, sensing or controller system designs.
• Electronics PCB design experience.
• Broad engineering knowledge with strategic thinking.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and physics-based modelling.
• Experience with test/experimental design and lab execution.
• Strong self-starter with planning and scheduling skills.
• Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for technical delivery of allocated project deliverables and work packages.
• Budget accountability for a Work Stream or Work Package.
• Lead or support hands-on development testing and trials.
• Coordinate external work packages with third parties to meet objectives.
• Accurately capture and record data from tests and trials.
• Prepare high-quality technical documentation and reports.
• Contribute to Technology Development Plans and Business Cases.
• Ensure project planning documents are up to date and on track.
