The Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom is hiring a Senior Probation Officer to lead a Local Delivery Unit, manage staff, and ensure adherence to policy and national standards. The role emphasizes data-driven performance, staff development, and safeguarding responsibilities within a hybrid working environment.

You will oversee risk management, public protection, and continuous improvement initiatives while working in partnership with other teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience as a Probation Officer or in a related criminal justice context.
• Understanding of the Probation Service’s role within the Criminal Justice System.
• Experience with risk assessment and multi-agency procedures.
• Ability to analyse performance data and evaluate practice.
• Experience of leading change and improving quality and efficiency.

Responsabilités

• Provide effective management and leadership to the team.
• Ensure delivery of good practice and performance improvements within policy and standards.
• Deploy interventions and resources cost-effectively to meet budget and strategic aims.
• Ensure staff meet contract requirements with partners and local plans.
• Access and apply performance data to maximise team performance.
• Support staff development and address underperformance and safeguarding duties.
• Contribute to public protection through multi-agency collaboration and casework review.
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Manage area financial resources within policy and authorize expenditure.
